Former nominated senator Joy Gwendo will be forced to part with Sh 660000 and a jail term of one year after the High Court reviewed her sentence.
The former senator had earlier been sentence to two years in prison for was on December 7, 2018 sentenced to a two-year jail term after she was found guilty of abuse of office and fraud. The magistrates court had given her the sentence without an option.
Justice John Onyiego stated that the lower court had erred in the sentence and also that the money in question had already been paid up.
The magistrates court said that the former senator had been dishonest with the court.
