The decomposing body of businessman James Maina was found in River Thiba at Urua village, Mbeere South Sub County five months after he went missing.
The police also found his mobile phone and an amount of his money in his pockets. The family have suspected foul play in his murder.
“We retrieved the vehicle and found a male adult body. We suspect he is the owner of the vehicle. We are trying to match fingerprints,” said Mr Mohammed.
The police said that the body had been badly damaged because of staying in water for too ling but they were yet to establish whether he was killed or not.
The family had made an appeal on social media days after he went missing. His daughter Joyce Maina confirmed that the police had retrieved his vehicle.
‘Dear friends , family and fans. My dad and body was found at the bottom of the river in Embu yesterday. Its heart breaking news but we’ve been praying for some kind of closure for a month. When I blew out my birthday candle last week that’s actually what I wished for…’ she said on Instagram.
James Maina was a businessman in the horticulture Industry and went missing on April 29.
