Journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie will remain custody in order for the journalist to undergo a mental assessment so as to be able to take plea.
The DPP had ordered that the two be charged with murder of Monica Kimani stating that they had gathered adequate evidence to prosecute them.
However the prosecution told the court that they had only conducted a mental assessment on Mr. Irungu and therefore requested for a deferment in taking the plea.
The two will appear in court on October 15 after the assessment has been done on Jacque Maribe. She will be remanded at the Langata women’s prison while Joseph Irungu will be held at the Industrial Area remand prison.
His lawyers asked that he be accorded access to medical treatment as his hand had almost become paralyzed as a result of not receiving the required attention.

Justice Jessie Lessit said that the prosecution should prepare an affidavit indicating their intention to oppose bail after taking the plea.
