Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations following videos emerging of police officers assaulting students from the University of Nairobi in their halls of residence.
The institution on its own motion sent its Rapid Response Unit to investigate the matter and has called on the members of the public including the affected students to report to IPOA at their offices on ACK Gardens Annex on 1st Ngong Avenue.
The students were protesting for the release of former SONU chairman who is currently the member of Parliament for Embakasi East, Babu Owino.
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has also set out to probe the incident and has asked the victims to come forward.
