Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi has been arrested for incitement and breaking traffic rules.
The youngest member of parliament was apprehended at Kiguchwa in Tigania Central after he talked Probox drivers and boda boda riders into removing a police roadblock erected along the Meru-Mikinduri-Maua road.
The legislator is said to have first appeared at 10.30 am in the company of boda boda riders and then later at around 4 pm.
According to Tigania Central Administration Police commander, John Munyoki, police swang into action when he harassed the officers manning the road block.
“We had erected the roadblocks since the Michuki rules were re-introduced and we had officers on duty to ensure sanity in the roads. However today we got information from the four officers who were at the road block that Igembe South MP had appeared and instructed them to leave the place as he attempted to remove the barricade,” Mr Munyoki said.
The “dis-honourable” member of parliament is according to the Standard being held at Mikinduri Police Station.
On Friday, he alongside Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Mpuru Aburi (EALA) and Moses Kirima (Imenti Central) forcefully made their way into the county police headquarters in protest of the re-enforced Michuki Rules.
