In preparation for the October 17 polls the KIEMs kits that were used during the nullified August Polls would need an upgrade which French supplier now says will not be possible by the date set by IEBC to conduct the fresh polls.
Safron Morpho which supplied the KIEMs Kit has said that the IEBC should get it right this time around as failure of the KIEMs in Kenya would affect their company image globally.
IEBC agreed that the supplier needed adequate time to upgrade the systems so that they do not loose the data that was used in the August 8th polls and also for the system to work efficiently and not fail completely.
The KIEMs kits for all the 41000 polling stations need to be reconfigured.
Another issue that might bring IEBC headaches is the fact that the meeting with the political coalitions taking place in the October 17 polls has failed to push through with NASA calling for a public forum instead of a board room meeting and Jubilee refusing to make what they call ‘board room’ deals.
James Orengo of the NASA coalition wants IEBC to get a different supplier saying that Safron Morpho was a criminal enterprise.

Jubilee on the other hand say that this are just strategies to push for a coalition government by the NASA coalition.
