IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati Says He Will Not Step Down, Will Make Internal Changes

IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati has said that he will not resign from the commission but has asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to investigate the individuals responsible for the irregularities noted by the Supreme Court Judges.

He also noted that the electoral body will be making internal changes ahead of the fresh round of polls, whose date they will make known.

The chairman also maintained that they will commit themselves to delivering a free, fair and credible election. He asked the Judges to avail the full judgement so as implement their findings.

NASA principal Raila Odinga upon delivery of the ruling expressed his lack of faith in the electoral body. He and lawyer James Orengo called for the disbandment of the commission.

Mr Chebukati has also asked Kenyans to remain calm.
