How Nation Media Group is Exploiting the #WestgateAttack Victims for Profits


  • After using the despicable pictures during the Westgate Tragedy, Nation Media has come up with the worst opportunistic strategy we have witnessed. On Saturday September 28, The Saturday Nation will publish an obituary pull-out for all the Westgate.
  • But this is not it. Currently, Nation business executives are approaching Corporate Organizations with an offer to publish ‘condolence messages. These charges are discounted as follows. Here is part of a message that Nation Business Executives are sending.

    “The cost of sending condolence messages will be as follows:

    In short, Nation is all set to profit from the Westgate Tragedy. And this is a perfect money minting exercise. Corporate are already buying into this.”

  1. Ofcourse this is rubish…but more importantly,we know where its coming from.We made a mistake and someone wants to make hay from that.Ignore it…our saturday tributes are free for all kenyans who want to contribute…idividuals or corporates and we have been announcing that on NTV…

  3. Well, they saw an opportunity and they got to use it.

    Granted, it is socially immoral, but it makes a lot of economic sense. They are a newspaper, that’s what they do-provide a platform for such.

    I don’t thinks it’s a 100% wrong.

  5. What a shame when standard is giving space for free. I have officially moved yo standard media as they have exercised media ethics and professionalism in the past few days.
