Harambee Starlets opponents in the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) Zambia have said they are “ready to face any team” in Group B.

Kenya were pooled in the group alongside record champions Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia.

“It is a fair group,” the She-Polopolo’s Team Manager Chibwe Besa said after the draw which took place in Accra, Ghana Sunday.

She added: “Today there are no underdogs so any group you find yourself, you have to do your best to make it.

It is a tournament and you must prepare for it. We are ready to face any team that comes our way,” Besa declared.

The Kenyan queens will begin their campaign against the Southern Africans on 18 November 2018 in Cape Coast, Ghana.

Starlets qualified for the biennial championship last week after Equatorial Guinea were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player in the qualifiers.

Starlets narrowly lost to Equatorial Guinea 3-2 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers and successfully appealed against the West Africans for fielding a Cameroonian.

Like Zambia, Kenya will be making a second appearance in the tournament after gracing the last edition in Cameroon in 2016.
