A Siaya High Court judge has warned Governor Cornel Rasanga and petitioner former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo against bribing an officer of the state.
Judge Esther Maina asked both parties to stop sending proxies to her office with the intent of getting a favorable ruling.
Ms Maina said on Wednesday that both the incumbent and the former legislator ‘tried to bribe her in order to compromise her decision.’
“As a state officer, I cannot agree to receive a bribe in a bid to compromise my judgement on this matter,” the judge said.
She warned the politicians and threatened to report the matter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
“I will not receive money from any hierarchy, advocate or colleague,” she added.

“If disgruntled, go report the matter police;you should not threaten the judge,” Maina said to the bewilderment of attendees.
Gumbo wants the KIEMs kits scrutinized citing irregularities and illegalities that got the incumbent re-elected.
The judge ordered that the IEBC also a respondent in the petition, to produce data as requested by the petitioner.
The case will be heard on Monday, 20 November.
