Gor Mahia will be crowned the 2018 Kenyan Premier League champions for a record 17th time at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium Sunday.
Gor were declared champions-lect weeks back with six games to spare and will today be handed over the title which they managed to defend for the second time on the bounce.
The elaborate ceremony will start early at 2.00pm with a match against 2008 champions Mathare United which will be broadcasted live on K24 TV and online.
KPL title sponsor SportPesa, who are also Gor’s shirt sponsor, have pulled all stops to ensure the event is a success.
The gaming giants have pitched camp in the Lake side City, mobilizing fans to attend the game.

Fans from as far as Nairobi and Mombasa are expected to attend with many already in town for the “state function.”
Among dignitaries expected to grace the occasion is Kenya’s opposition chief Raila Odinga, who is also the patron of Gor Mahia.
Raila attended the 2014 coronation at the same venue but missed last year’s event.
Gor, the most storied club in Kenya and East Africa have won five of the last six KPL titles making them the most dominant force in Kenyan football.
