Gor Mahia Thump Zamalek 4-2 To Settle Old Scores

Gor Mahia got off to a flying start in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage with a 4-2 thumping of Zamalek at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

Jacques Tuyisenge was the hero for K’Ogalo, who were meeting the Egyptian giant for the sixth time, scoring a brace to set the mood for the game.

Nicholas Kipkirui netted the third for the coach Hasan Oktay’s side with legendary Dennis Oliech sealing the huge win with the fourth.

Zamalek who were the favorites on paper scored through Ibrahim Hassan, who also scored a brace.

The victory was a sweet revenge for Gor Mahia who lost 4-0 to the White Knights the last time they faced each other in Cairo in 1998.

Gor Mahia will next face Angolan side Petro Atletico in their second Group D match in Luanda.
