A 10 year old girl from Namibia is nursing severe burns after her stepmother, 36-year-old Pafunisia Mwadhina Josua poured boiling water on her.
It is reported that the girl was hit with a belt buckle and had a knife thrown at her, before the stepmother poured hot water on her, for allegedly forgetting to switch off a geyser.
Sources close to the family reveal that the abuse has been going on for the past three years and the marks on the girl’s body speaks for themselves.
The victim who has wounds all over her body was taken to Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital where she was admitted for a number of days and was later discharged.
The incident happened on September 16, leaving the girl with open wounds that cause her to frequent Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.
The child’s stepmother was arrested and arraigned in court where she was denied bail.
The 36 year old, Ms Joshua was charged with assault with the intention to do grave body harm.
Her case will be mentioned in October 9 for a formal bail application.
