Galleria Shopping Mall owners want the struggling Nakumatt supermarket evicted from its premises over rent arrears amounting to a whooping Sh107 million.
Parkside Developments Limited has moved to court seeking to take over the space currently occupied by the retailer.
“That this honourable court hereby grants leave to the interested creditor to exercise its right of forfeiture and re-enter its premises known as unit 0.1 situated on the ground floor of the Galleria Mall,” the firm has requested.
The firm also claims that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has directed its remaining tenants to pay rent directly to the authority due to unpaid Sh86 million in taxes.
KRA’s move, the firm laments, makes it difficult for them to service their bank loans because they are not getting revenue from the shopping mall.
