The federation of Women Lawyers FIDA has written an open letter to the president Uhuru Kenyatta seeking to have him allocate seven slots for women in his new Cabinet.
The organization says that they are willing to suggest names of women fit to occupy any of the 22 cabinet positions.

“Mr President, FIDA Kenya urges you to prioritize women concerns. Once again the women of this great nation, remind you of your personal commitment to uphold the Constitution of Kenya, the provisions of the Jubilee manifesto and the good will of your government,” part of the open letter to the president stated.
FIDA asked the president to apply the principle of the two thirds gender rule which is enshrined under Article 27(8) of the constitution.
Currently there only five women in the present cabinet that is set to be reshuffled to encompass all regions and still reward political in preparation for 2022.
