A family in Lodwar is distraught. Their 20 year daughter was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend and attempts to get justice have been stifled.
A family member of the deceased narrated to Kahawa Tungu how his sister Cecilia Asibitar Eloiloi had an affair with one Jeloy Shadrack Lowoyatir, an IEBC official working in Turkana Central as a Constituency Office Admin Assistant.
Four months into the affair saw the bubbly young woman lose her life in the most disturbing of ways.
On the fateful evening of 30th of October 2017, Ms Eloiloi was heading home from school on board an IEBC Land cruiser GK A 590 V at 9 pm when an argument between her and the boyfriend ensued over a text message suspected to have come from her boyfriend’s mpango wa kando.
A scuffle is said to have ensued when the suspect Mr. Lowoyatir intentionally threw the lady out of the moving car, leading to her death.
To conceal his heinous actions, the boyfriend reported the case at Lodwar Police station as a Road Traffic accident, however, eye witness accounts contradicted the report. The postmortem conducted on the body of the deceased also unraveled that it was not an accident.
Besides, this was not the first time the man had meted untold brutality on the late; a medical report shows that on September 9, a month before her murder, he had hit her head with a beer bottle and left her helpless forcing her own family to take her to hospital.
The family has been frustrated since then by the Police to the extent of not being told the status of the investigations.
“Every time we go looking for any information regarding the case,we are met with hostility from the OCS.The suspect is walking Scot free in Lodwar town since the day the incident occurred,” the family source said.
He also exposed that Dr. Eroo Mele, IEBC Nairobi County Election Coordinator and the uncle to the suspect has allegedly been making frantic efforts to influence the case from the state Counsel stationed in Lodwar,a Mr. Kimanzi.
“Money has exchanged hands. Last week, the accused family came to us bragging that our family have no choice but to sit with them and settle the whole issue out of court. We are sure as a family that the incident that took our sister’s life was deliberate. We have been seeing it coming due to previous incidences of violence meted on our sister by the suspect and death threats,” he added.
The family of the accused is allegedly using money to deny Ms. Cecilia Asibitar Eloiloi Justice and her family are calling upon the ODPP and IG Joseph Boinnet NPSC to help get justice for her and her family.
