Safaricom is set to launch its set-top box to the consumer market tomorrow. The Android powered device is not different from what Zuku offers to its triple-play (telephone, TV and internet) bundle clients. Even the Safaricom staff training manual clearly state so.
The decoder has HD and 4G capabilities making a good combination for delivery of Video on demand. The device will also be able to support up to 10 devices through its hotspot capabilities. It will have over 35 channels with the following showing some of the available free-to-air.
Users of the Big Box will have the option to buy bundles as indicated in the chat below.
The subscription process will be as follows.
While Safaricom is launching “theBigBox”, Bamba TV has sent out a mail to all its distributors to inform them that they don’t have more stock. They are expecting more stock in the next two months. Apparently the stock brought by Radio Africa Group for Bamba TV were suppose to last 4 months but lasted only 2 months.
So now you know what Safaricom will be offering you.
