Former Ugenya MP David Ochieng narrated to a Kisumu Court how his political rival and sitting MP Christopher Karan used slain IEBC IT official Chris Msando’s death to injure his campaigns.
Ochieng who was vying on a Movement for Democracy and Growth ticket after losing the ODM primaries to Karan has filed a petition challenging the latter’s election. He told the court that the incumbent who was then an opponent and his campaign team went to the late Msando’s home in Lifunga and told mourners not to allow him to the funeral as he was involved in the murder.

“This was the lowest moment during the campaigns but I told my supporters to leave it to God,” Mr. Ochieng said adding that “this triggered violence against anyone perceived to be my supporter.”
He accused ODM Party of leading a campaign that targeted his reputation, tied his party to Jubilee and threatened voters telling them whoever voted for Ochieng would be identified and treated as a Jubilee sympathizer.
