Former Nyandarua governor Waithaka Mwangi has been arrested in Nyeri alongside former Water CEC Grace Wanjiru over a fraudulent Ksh.50 million water and sewerage tender issued in 2014.
Also under arrest former county officer Kahiu Gaiko who during Mwangi’s tenure served as director in the department of Water, energy, environment and Natural resources.
The three presented themselves to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and will face graft charges and engaging in a project without prior planning, contrary to procurement laws.

The former county boss will also be charged with abuse of office as police search for other officials who disobeyed summonses.
This comes just after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji directed that the former governor alongside seven others, be charged and prosecuted.
