A Jubilee politician has been handed a one month jail term after failing to pay a Sh1.5 million debt.
Karisa Nzai, former Jomvu Kuu MCA, was ordered to settle Javaco Agencies Limited’s debt but defied the court order, Senior principal magistrate Francis Kyambia said.
A Mombasa court had ordered Nzai to pay up before June, 2017.
“The defendant has not made any attempt to pay the debtor and as such he will start serving a civil jail term of 30 days,” the magistrate said.

The politician who lost in the August 8 elections will be held at the Shimo la Tewa prisons where he was taken after being apprehended outside the court.
Nzai has been on a losing streak having lost a petition challenging Jomvu MP, Badi Twalib’s win.
