Samuel Eto’o has pledged a house to former Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions captain Nobert Owona who is currently homeless and hospitalized.
The former Barcelona and Chelsea was home when he learnt about Owona’s plight through a documentary that showed him sleeping on the streets of Doula.
The 67-year-old is now in hospital and waiting to have a surgery on a hernia after a charity ran by Cameroon’s First Lady Chantal Biya secured his admittance.
He described Eto’o, who is presently plying his trade in Qatar for Qatar Sports Club as a “very kind man” after he paid him a visit in hospital and reportedly gave him $1000.
“Eto’o is a very kind man, very kind. I have been homeless with no food to eat,” Owona said.
In the documentary which aired on Equinoxe TV in Cameroon, the former Union of Duala player says he spent all his life earnings treating his wife and children.
After his wife and two children died, he was destitute and had been unable to find help – despite letters to government ministers asking for financial and medical assistance.
