Speculations are rife that he (Kalonzo) might be heading to the 12th Parliament and here is how. The NASA Co-Principal is said to be wary of disgruntling party members who are uncomfortable with the move to nominated Kalonzo’s son for East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) post
Thus, a plan is said to have been devised for Mwingi North MP, Nzengu Mushimi to apply for the (EALA) post while Kalonzo goes for Mwingi North.
Nzengu is a first time MP and for him to get the post, he would have to resign first as the Mwingi legislator and submit the application forms before close of business today.
”However, we would like to know the motive of Mushimi’s decision to apply for the EALA position because it is very ridiculous for a sitting MP in the National Assembly to apply for EALA,” Duale said, adding that Mushimi’s election is not automatic.
Also on the list of Wiper nominees for EALA is Kalonzo’s son, Kennedy Kalonzo who’s nomination sparked heated debate on the floor of the house.
But Duale reckons that Musyoka’s move is brilliant as he would easily win the Mwingi North seat, having represented the people for over two decades.
The Garissa town MP says that the former Vice President, a seasoned politician is in fact better placed to represent the opposition by taking up the leader of minority post and sitting in the House Business committee.
”By coming to Parliament, maybe Kalonzo wants to be at same level as his friend and NASA co-principal Senator Moses Wetangula, the senate minority leader,” Duale opined in the Star.
Nzengu denied the allegations but was quick to add that should the former VP ask him to do it he ‘will make the decision at the appropriate time.’
