Former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has received a promotion at the UN despite strong opposition from the Kenyan mission.
This information was disclosed by Raila Odinga’s advisor Salim Lone who is also a communications director at the UN.
Despite "almost violent opposition" from the Kenya Mission (as UN insider put it), Roselyn Akombe just got a promotion to even more senior position in UN Dept of Political Affairs. UN promotions are rare. This recognition by UN will give Roselyn some additional protection too.

Roselyn Akombe’s new position is a senior position whose work will be to give significant input to formulating overall UN policies and strategies.
Roselne Akombe resigned from the IEBC in October of 2017. She fled from the country claiming that her life was in danger.
The former commissioner also disclosed that the commission as was at that time was unable to conduct a free and fair election. She had taken unpaid leave from the UN to come and offer her experience to the Kenyan people.
