
The Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji has ordered for the immediate arrest of the Perry Mansukh, the owner of Patel Dam which cost 47 lives in May.
Mansukh is facing charges of manslaughter a day after the Water Cabinet Secretary, Simon Chelugui declared that the construction of the dam was not licensed therefore making the construction illegal.
The DPP’s investigations revealed that the Dam was constructed by unqualified staff using farm equipment therefore leading to construction and design flaws.

The dams’ water was being supplied by the Watkins stream which was abstracted completely by the owner.
The water permit in the Solai Dam was irregularly issued.
There was failure by the owner, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Water Rights Authority (WRA) to ensure compliance.
Several other officials are also being charged with manslaughter, neglect of duty and failing to prepare and environmental impact assessment report.
