Deputy President William Ruto has called on Kenyans earning hundreds of thousands of shillings to be ready to contribute more.
Speaking in Kajiado during the goat auction to support 5,000 families pay NHIF, DP Ruto argued that those earning more than Ksh 500,000 like MPs, County Executive Officers (CECs) and MCAs should be able to pay at least Ksh 10,000 per month and help cushion those who earn lower salaries.
The DP also called on the county leadership to help add value to farmers who depend on cow and mechanise for them so that they improve on output. He promised to help ensure that farmers improve on cattle feeding and install 25 milk cooling plants.
Deputy President William Ruto called on Kenyans to focus on changing the country through proactive leadership and not “fitina na chuki” as witnessed. The DP emphasised that newspaper headlines targeted on individuals and geared towards inciting hate of the same should not be the basis on which Kenyans choose leaders.
DP Ruto called on Kenyans to properly understand that development by government is only funded through taxation and the level of the taxes can be properly discussed through formal engagements and not shouting at each other.
DP Ruto donated Ksh 5 million at the function with another Ksh 5 million being donation from the President.
