Economist David Ndii was last night arrested in Mombasa by a contingent of police officers from the Directorate of Criminal Intelligence (DCI).
The economist David Ndii and his wife were staying at the popular Leopard Beach Resort and Spa in Kwale where the DCI officers stormed and arrested him over the People’s Assembly movement gaining traction across the country.
He was later moved to unknown police stations around the Coast. It is expected that he might be produced in court today or tomorrow after investigations have completed.
Police officers involved in arresting Ndii were led by Joseph Chebusit (Kwale OCPD), Felix Nyamai (Kwale DCIO) and others.
Ndii is expected to record a statement, on Monday morning at the DCI headquarters with officers from the Serious Crimes Unit over incitement allegations.
David Ndii was named by NASA as the head of the six man steering committee to oversee the People’s Assembly movement which is to lead the secession campaigns across the country. Other members of the committee are Judy Sijeny, Hamida Kibwana, Dr Mutakha Kangu, Oduor Ong’wen, Koitamet ole Kina and former EALA MP Peter Mathuki.
More than ten county assemblies have already passed the motion to set up the People’s Assembly.
