The court has reinstated the security of Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o and his deputy Mathews Owili until the case the file suing the state over withdrawal of their bodyguards
Nyong’o and Owili said the decision by the government to withdraw their security puts their lives at risk.

In the petition that was filed at the Kisumu Law courts named Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and the Attorney General as respondents.
“We are in court to challenge the discriminatory decision by the state, Every elected leader in the country is entitled to security. We will hold the government responsible should anything happen to any of us,” the lawyer for the applicants stated.
The police attached to the two had been ordered to report back to their work stations under unclear circumstances.
