Court Nullifies The Election Of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter

The High court has nullified the election of NAndi Hills Mp Alfred Keter. Justice George Kimondo cited electoral malpractices as the main reason for the nullification.

Petitioner Bernard Kibor had accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision (IEBC) of colluding with Alfred Keter to rig him out in the closely contested polls. The judge said that the respondent failed to produce evidence to counter what had been presented by the the petitioner. The court ordered for fresh elections

“Having scrutinized both evidence, I have noted illegalities committed by the second respondent during the said exercise, Further, the first respondent committed various electoral illegalities. I hereby order fresh elections to be conducted by the second respondent,” Justice Kimondo said in his ruling

Keter becomes the second outspoken Jubilee to loose his seat after Kangongo Bowen of Marakwet East.

Elsewhere the High court has also nullified the election of Ugenya MP Chris Karan stating that the elections were not conducted in a free and fair manner. The election of Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe citing mass irregularities.
