Nairobi Askaris swept through the Central Business District (CBD) this morning to remove city beggars from the streets in a bid to make the CBD a beggar-free zone.
The beggars are normally dropped in the morning and picked in the evening by people who are thought to be their “masters”. About 30 beggars were collected by the Askaris and were taken to Waithaka Rehabilitation Centre in Dagorreti.
The operation is being carried out together with National Council for People with Disabilities and the beggars who are not from Kenya will be deported back to Tanzania.
