Two senior managers at the Kenya Rural Roads Authority(KeRRA) have been accused of being conduits to corruption, fleecing Chinese contractors millions of shillings as kickbacks for issuing tenders .
The two, Margaret Muthui and Peter Gichohi, are said to be behind the corrupt deals in KeRRA while being protected by the CS James Macharia who is a close friend of Gichohi.
Thy are said to have awarded dubious contracts to to Nightgale Enterprises Limited. The company was initially supposed to deal in stationery but were shifted to construction with the award of a tender to do asphalt paving and bush clearing of Wajir Qorof – Harar-Kutulo road.
The clearance certificate is said to have indicated that the road constructed was 25.6 Kilometers and another clearance certificate showing that the road constructed was 80 Kms.

Peter Gichohi who was the manager in charge of design was vastly mentioned in the Sigiri bridge in Budalangi which collapsed shortly after the president had investigated the project. The bridge was constructed by Chinese contractors.
The two managers brag of having pocketing the members of the senate and parliamentary committees on transport public works and housing.
The transport CS is said to be using the two as brokers for a multibillion housing project which media reports have insinuated to be a scandal in waiting.
