Communications Authority Cracks Down On Unregistered Sim Cards

The communications authority of Kenya  has asked mobile operators to suspend unregistered or partially registered lines. The authority said that it had come to their attention that subscribers an mobile network operators were not complying.

The communications authority director general Francis Wangusi said that the suspension would be done in collaboration with the mobile network operators.

He however said that the lines would be reinstated once they comply with the requirements set under Rule 5 (1) of the regulations.

Recently the President assented to the computer and cyber crime bill which was meant to nab people using mobile telephones to con others. A man named Wazir Chacha was arrested for impersonating Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and borrowing money from legislators pretending that she was sick and needed money for medical attention.
