Yatta Member of Parliament Charles Kilonzo is in trouble with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for possessing land allegedly belonging to the National Youth Service (NYS).
Kilonzo inherited the 600 acre land from his late father, former Police Commissioner Philip Kilonzo.
The legislator has allegedly made millions off the land deals. He sold a piece of the land to Tanathi Water Services after colluding with the Water Ministry to overvalue the land.
Tanathi bought the land with the intention of constructing Yatta Dam.
The MP’s name has also been adversely mentioned in multiple land grabbing cases including some in Kithimani, Ndalani, Matuu and Mavoloni.
Some of the unsuspecting land buyers are now demanding a refund of their money with others threatening to move to court.
According to a weekly publication, the MP was furious when questioned about the irregular allocation of public land.
“Did Raila Odinga return molasses land? Did William Ruto return all that he has acquired within a very short period of time he has served as DP? Has anyone inquired where and how the Kenyatta family, who own almost a quarter of Kenya, got it or asked them to return? Let’s start from the top and Kilonzo family will return this so called Yatta NYS land,” an irate Kilonzo said.
Former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is also said to have illegally acquired land belonging to the NYS.
Musyoka apparently allocated 500 acres of NYS land in Yatta, Machakos to himself and his proxies.

In February, President Uhuru Kenyatta warned that land irregularly acquired will be repossessed.
“Land previously owned by NYS will be returned to the institution for active programmes that will help the youth in employment. The State will put all resources at its disposal to ensure that NYS succeeds in this,” the President said.
The NYS management is yet to act on the issue.
