Chandarana Foodplus Employee Associated With “Racist” Email Still Missing

Chandarana Foodplus Supermarket employee who sent a racist email has since gone missing.

Rima Patel, the supermarket managers told National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), vanished and has not reported to work since July 27.

Director of operations at Chandarana, Hanif Rajan said that Ms Patel was on a three month work permit.

Mr Rajan also told the commission that the “missing” Indian national’s contract was going to expire on August 6, 2018.

But according to the commission’s head of legal affairs, Kyalo Mwengi, they will probe the case further and determine whether the supermarket is in the habit of rewarding clients based on their races.

“They appeared before the commission, filed some statements but told us that Rima Patel has not shown up. She has not been answering her phone since yesterday,” Mwengi told reporters.

The Immigration Department is also on the look out for the staffer.

The email that went viral read: “We are delighted to inform you that our supermarket chain, would like to give you free vouchers to winner/raffles/best performer/runners-up candidate in upcoming events. As we are now focusing on white people to ‘attract our supermarkets’ [sic].”
