It will be will be presented at the Tropics Gala Dinner in Johannesburg, South Africa on October 20.

He hopes to be among the top 12 finalists as he strives to enable more low-income communities access affordable energy solutions in their households.

“The cost of energy is high in Kenya, which leaves off-grid households in the dark. On the macroscale, this slows down the country’s economic progress. To improve the affordability of the biodigester, Sistema.bio provides interest-free payment plans to farmers. This innovative approach increases access by smallholder farmers while keeping the monthly payments similar to what they would ordinarily spend on firewood, charcoal and LP Gas,” said Todwell, as quoted by a local media outlet.

“The technology also provides added value to the farmers as they can now cook without smoke, avoid pulmonary diseases, increase the productivity in their farms with organic fertilizer, realize an adequate return on investment and save money and time.”

Sistema.bio has been able to supply more than 1,000 hybrid reactor biodigesters to farmers between 2017-2018 serving clients in Kenya Uganda and Zambia.
