Busia Chief Magistrate has accused August 8 election losers of sending their proxies to his office in a bid to sway the rulings in their favor.
George Wakahiu said that they (politicians) have tried bribing him but insisted that he will not ‘bow to pressure.’
”It has come to the attention of this court that some parties in some of the petitions I am handling have been sending emissaries to try and seek favors from this court,” he said.
The magistrate issued a stern warning to the parties involved and asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission to look into the matter.
”The court takes the matter seriously and investigative agencies should move with speed and investigate the claims and bring the suspects to book,” he added.
The cases, he noted will be determined on ‘merit and without fear or favor.’

In November, Siaya High Court judge, Esther Maina also accused Governor Cornel Rasanga and former governor aspirant Nicholas Gumbo of attempting to influence the outcome of the case.
“I have information that either the petitioner or the respondent have connived with their advocates to influence the outcome of this case. I will not fall into their traps,” Judge Maina said.
