Makadara residents woke up to chaos after Nairobi county askaris in conjunction with the police brought down structures at Mutindwa, Buruburu.

There is reportedly heavy traffic jam as police guard the area.

On Thursday illegal structures were taken down along Fedha Road, Embakasi East constituency. It was said that the kiosks belonged to a criminal gang that charged between Sh5,000 and Sh.10,000.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has defended the demolition of small business shops saying that they sit on road reserves, that must be respected.
