A thirteen year old boy from Ndia Constituency has committed suicide after failing to get acceptance to his dream secondary school.
The boy had scored 313 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and was called to join a school he did not aspire to go to.
His father Lawrence Mutuiri said that his son was disappointed at the school he was selected to go to but he did not appear to be suicidal.
He said that his son locked himself in a room and hang himself using a bed sheet. He said that it was difficult for them to save him as it was difficult to break down the door.
The sub county commissioner confirmed the boys death stating that the suicide trend in the area had become worrying.

Last week many candidates who sat for exams complained about the schools that they had been posted to stating that they had not been placed in schools that they had selected. Many parents opted to go online to swap places for their children who had been sent to school they were unfamiliar with.
The Education ministry had during the release of the examinations stated that there would only be one selection for form one positions.
