
It was mother versus son for the Bomet East parliamentary seat which saw Beatrice Kones beat her son, Kipng’etich Kones.
The residents termed the rivalry as ‘unblessed.’ They therefore displayed a show of maturity and voted overwhelmingly for the mother.
Kipng’etich was running under the Chama Cha Mashinani party and received tremendous support from outgoing governor Isaac Ruto.

Beatrice Kones was running on a Jubilee party ticket.
It was the most anticipated duel in the constituency as it involved members of a nuclear family.
A resident from the area said, “You can never go against your parent and expect to succeed.”
A lecturer at laikipia, University termed the show for the son as political suicide as it was a cultural taboo.
Beatrice gave her son a thrashing of a lifetime by garnering 22796 against Kipng’etich’s 2410.
