The motion to discuss nomination of embattled Lawyer Migiuna Miguna as Nairobi’s Deputy Governor will be tabled this week, according to County assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
The motion is expected to approve or reject Miguna nomination, who was appointed by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko mid last month, raising controversy across the political divide.
“We will table the motion before the assembly this week, I don’t want to talk much about it as it is a matter to be discussed before all members of the County Assembly,” said Alachi.

The Immigration Department has been in constant fight with the lawyer, claiming that he is not a bona fide citizen of Kenya despite owning a Kenyan identification card.
Despite being his competitor last month, Sonko, in his nomination letter termed him as the best fit to take over from Polycap Igathe, who unexpectedly resigned from the City Hall.
“The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act, the Elections Act and County Government Act,” said Sonko of Miguna in his nomination letter
Miguna, however, rejected the nomination describing it as a malicious distraction.
Elachi was speaking to a local television station.
