NASA principal and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has asked the coalition to start focusing on 2022 because currently there is no legal and financial muscle to conduct a fresh election in August 2018.
Musalia said that he spoke to members of parliament if a fresh election would be possible and the response from them was that it was not a possibility.

“I was asking our MPs, have you made provision for a fresh presidential election? They said no. Issues like this, in my view, need to be financed 90 per cent by the citizens themselves, and that can only be through the budget,” Mr Mudavadi said.
He said that NASA should instead look forward and focus on pushing for transparency in elections and cbuilding a better strategy for 2022.
“My appeal is singular and clear; Let us look forward. Let us start figuring out whether our strategy was wrong or right. And if it was wrong, let us correct it,” he said.
He said the people who were pushing for a people’s Assembly were using it to be famous and not to push for the key issues that the coalition had purposed to address. NASA are pushing for an expanded executive, judiciary and police reforms, and strengthening of devolution as key issues that they want the people’s convention to address.
This latest remarks by the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader are bound to cause a strain on the coalition. Musalia has already been termed as a coward for failing to show up for the swearing in ceremony that happened on January 30.
Some leaders from the luhya community have already dismissed him their front runner for the community in the 2022 elections.
