A flight from Nairobi to Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay County was on Monday morning delayed for more than an hour following protests by local residents.

The plane from Wilson Airport, which was scheduled to land at 7.15am, touched down at 8.30am.

Residents living around the airstrip protested delayed land compensation by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), paralyzing activities at the airstrip.

The locals accuse the management of failing to compensate over 120 families whose land was used during the expansion of the airstrip.

They linked their misery to the poor management at KAA.

Reports indicate the authority took 25 title deeds from locals promising to compensate them, but the families are yet to receive any communication from KAA.

The protesters proceeded to the county government offices to present their grievances.
