The Agriculture ministry Willy Bett has said that the price of maize should not exceed Sh. 115. According to him millers should not exploit Kenyans with an increase in maize flour prices.
He said that the research say that there is enough stock of maize flour and that a price increment would not be justifiable.
“Millers are also becoming businessmen but we don’t want them to over stretch their business acumen. With profits and everything else loaded in the price of flour should never exceed Sh115 per two kilogram bag,” The agriculture CS said while touring the Galana Kulalu irrigation project.
The maize subsidy which set the maize flour price Sh.90 end in December 2017 with an aim of stabilizing the price of maize flour.

“We will take any other intervention if the price (for a 90kg bag of maize) threatens to go above Sh3,200,” he insisted.
The maize millers said that the price of maize flour was set to Sh. 200 by March.
