Police have launched a man hunt for an Administration Police Officer who allegedly shot and killed his wife on Thursday evening.

The woman, identified as Christine Mango, was a teacher at Navakholo Secondary School.

The murder has been linked to constant marriage wrangles the couple faced.

According to reports from area residents, the AP officer from Navakholo Police Station, in more than one instance, threatened to kill someone.

Western regional police boss Rashid Yakub, confirmed the incident on Friday, saying his officers had recovered a fire arm used in the killing.

“We managed to recover the Ceska pistol he used to commit the murder but we are yet to arrest him. We request anyone with information about his whereabouts to volunteer to the police,” Mr Yakubu said.

He said police are pursuing the man who is still at large.

Following the incidents, students from Navakholo Secondary School and area residents protested the killing.

They are said to have engaged the police in running battles.

“There was very high tension at Navakholo market after news broke out about the killing of the teacher but police managed to contain the situation,” added Mr Yakubu.
