Gambia FA has denied agreeing to play any friendly match against Kenya in France ahead of the forthcoming  2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

In a statement to the media, Gambia FA Communications and Marketing officer Baboucarr Camara has stated that they have had discussions for a possible warm-up but no deal has been agreed.

“The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) wishes to clarify that contrary to the announcement made by the Kenyan Football Federation (KFF), there is nothing confirmed yet with regard to the proposed international football friendly between the Senior National Team of The Gambia and their Kenyan counterparts, the statement reads partly.

“It is true that the GFF is currently negotiating, with a FIFA match agent, to play a friendly match(es) in France next month, however, nothing is being confirmed yet. There are other options that we are currently studying so it isn’t only Kenya.

The GFF further wishes to clarify that it is not talking directly with the Kenyan FA but rather the said agent who is acting as an intermediary between us. To conclude, we wish to further reassure our stakeholders and the general public that we will keep you updated on any progress made on the matter.”

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) recently released a statement indicating that the Harambee Stars will play two friendly matches against Madagascar and Gambia during their 19-day camp in France before they leave for Egypt.

The camp will begin on 31st May in Paris, France.
