Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has said that the former Vice chairperson of the Jubilee party David Murathe’s opinion on him did not merit his response.
The ruling party deputy party leader said that he has not responded to Murathe in Kenya and therefore saw no need to respond to him while in London.
“I have not responded to Murathe in Kenya, I am not about to respond to him in Europe, he does not merit my response,” Ruto said.
Dr. Ruto said that he was only ready to respond on matters that directly touch on his character and not on his candidature as that was the decision of the Jubilee party.
“I am ready to respond to any allegation against my character or in anything I engage in. But the decision of Jubilee candidate is not a personal decision but that of a political party called Jubilee,” he said.
Murathe has constantly said that he does support DP William Ruto’s candidature in 2022.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Murathe said without mincing his words that he shares the same ideals with President Kenyatta and not even moving to opposition coalition will stop him from being his follower.
“Me and like minded will be campaigning against that ticket of William, whether in Jubilee or not,” said Murathe.
“Our party is Uhuru Kenyatta, if he moves to NASA tomorrow you will find us there…if he moves to KANU you’ll find us there.”
According to him, Kenyatta has the best intentions and interests of the country at heart.
He however, said if the President supported Ruto it won’t go without a fight from members opposed to the DP’s ambitions.
