The tanga tanga foot soldiers have explained their role and mandate in Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.
They said that their main agenda of the foot soldiers was to respond to jabs thrown at DP Ruto which the official Jubilee and the those close to him could not for the purposes of maintaining their dignity.
He said that the foot soldiers were just loyal to the the tanga tanga rag tag and we’re not receiving any salary from responding to jabs thrown at Ruto.
“As Tangatanga Foot Soldiers, I am well aware that many of us do what we do for free and expecting nothing in return. Our task remains to fill the gaps the DP’s Official Team cannot fill in supporting and defending our hero to make it in 2022 by all legal means necessary,” a member said.
The tanga tanga team member said that those politicians who were sticking close to the DP were only with him to guard their interests.
He gave two examples of when the unsung tanga tanga members came to the rescue of Ruto. They said that an onslaught of ODM leaders such as Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho were still attacking Ruto stating to people that the handshake supported President Kenyatta but opposed the hustler..
He said that while in West Pokot but they rallied people in the area to still support Ruto saying that they did not support drug driven politics insinuating that Joho was a drug dealer.
The tanga tanga team also spoke of former Jubilee party vice chair David Mawathe’s jabs towards the DP stating that the had to respond.
They said that the secretariat was waiting for them to make appropriate milestones before being part of the movement.
“We are living in uncertain political times. We don’t know what tomorrow holds or what tidings the next day will bring with it. But this much we know: When the bell tolls for real 2022 campaigns to begin, it’s this preparation and organizing we are doing now that will give us an edge over our adversaries in making victory happen for our candidate,” a member of the movement said.
