Deputy President William Ruto is yet to honor the Ksh50 million pledge to the Harambee Stars for AFCON qualification.

Football Kenya Federation honcho Nick Mwendwa is however upbeat that the money will be paid so that the players can be paid their bonuses.

“My feeling is that the government is up for it, they will pay the boys the Sh50 million. We are waiting for the Sports ministry and the DP give us further details,” Nick told the Star.

Harambee Stars are through to the continental championship for the first time in 15 years with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirming the same in a letter to the federation.

Ruto gave an undertaking to reward the boys with the handsome amount if they achieved the elusive feat.

“Once the money is released, we are going to give the players their bonuses.

“When you come forth with money, put it on the table and put it to rest. If you are transparent to the players, there will be no issue,” Mwendwa added.

The team will play their final Group F match away to Ghana next year to determine who runs away with the group.
