1991 European Cup (currently Champions League) winning coach with Red Star Belgrade, Ljupkp Petrovic, has retired at 71 due to “health problems.”
In a statement, the immediate former manager of Rwandan champions APR FC said that “this is the most difficult moment in my life, because I’m forbidden to do what I love most.”
The former Espanyol coach who was on his second stint at APR revealed that “since for a long time I have felt heart problems.”
“I was forced to go see my doctor. After a detailed examination, to my great sadness, the doctor told me that if I want to continue a normal life, I should never again be dealing with a trainer’s call.
“I’m so sorry that I have to stop working in FC APR, now when we are in our way to achieve all the wishes of the club, and especially entering the Champions League,” he added.
Petrovic, who won the Rwandan Premier League last season, leaves APR top of the log standings with a 100% record after five rounds.
“I want to thank all the people for good co-operation, and FC APR will stay forever in my heart,” he concluded.
