A Nakuru County police officer on Tuesday morning killed his wife in cold blood after a night out.

The officer identified as Constable Cornelius Talaam is said to have shot his wife, Eunice Wambui before turning the gun on himself.

Fellow officers attached to Piave police post said they were out for most of the night and only went home in the wee hours of the morning when the incident is said to have taken place.

“The shootout could have happened between the time we left and 8 am. When we realised he had not reported to work on Tuesday as normal, we went to his house only to find the two bodies lying dead in a pool of blood,” a constable stated.

The couple has been together for at least three months, neighbours said, adding that they heard gunshots in the morning but thought it was another police operation.

According to the Nakuru County Commander Hassan Barua, the two were lying in a pool of blood and six spent cartridges.

Their remains have been moved to Nakuru County Mortuary as police launch investigations into the matter.
