Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya welcomed the President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy President to the county to celebrate Mashujaa day .
He asked the President to solve the sugar issue stating that many residents who depended of sugar cane for their livelihood were yet to be paid. Governor Oparanya also said that the sugar factories had been closed as a result of poor management.
This sentiments were echoed by various residents and leaders that were in attendance.
The governor promised to continue developing the county but requested the National government to work with the county to continue with the development agenda.
He asked the President to help equip the county hospital that was in the process of construction. He also asked for partnership in maintaining Kakamega Forest to enhance tourism within the county
